One Humane exists so that no shelter has to figure it out alone. We find strong local organizations doing hard work in their communities, and we put the strength of a national family behind them: moving animals to where the homes are, raising the standard of medicine, coaching the craft of lifesaving, and building fundraising that lasts. Delaware became the first no-kill state in the nation. Central Pennsylvania reached no-kill within months of its humane society joining the family. Washington, DC reached the no-kill benchmark in the first year of our care, with more than 7,000 animals served and a 93 percent live release rate. The model is not a theory.
